Is it a positive or negative to
be overpopulated in the world? According to Time, we reached our 7 billionth
person in 2011(Walsh 4). Seven billion is a fairly large number, most people
can’t even count that high. The population is going to continue to grow as the
years go on. Some countries try to control their population such as China by
reducing the amount of children each government family can have. I would think
that the child a couple is not allowed to have could’ve been the person to cure
cancer or to come up with a life changing invention. God didn’t intend for
married couple to be limited on the amount of children they can produce, so is
it right for the government to? Many may think overpopulation can cause the
world to run out of the resources we need to survive such as food and water.
"About half the food produced worldwide ends up wasted, either rotting in the
fields, the markets or in the refridgarator. We could feed 7 billion, 8 billion,
9 billion and more if we chose to do so"(Walsh 4). Walsh expresses that food is
not an issue referring to overpopulation. The problem isn’t the amount of people
and the things they may need to survive. More importantly it’s what those people
can do to the environment. "Every additional person needs food, water, and
energy, and produces more waste and pollution. “Thus all environmental problems
are easier to solve with fewer people and ultimately impossible wit even more"
(Walsh 4).The more overpopulated we become the more negative it would be for the
environment we live in.

Be careful not to put too many of your own opinions in your research writing. Also, do not depend so much on quotations, but more on paraphrasing.
